If we have seen your pet (adoption, spay neuter, vaccine clinic) in the past year, you may order flea and heartworm prevention through Chewy. Please list Kat Vet Spay Neuter & Rescue as your veterinarian.

CATS:

- For outside cats or if your cat has a flea and tapeworm issue, we recommend Nexgard Combo for Cats.
- Topical selamectin (many brands such as Revolution, Revolt, Selarid, Senergy) is a great maintenance for inside cats.
- If we have not seen your cat, Cheristin does not require a prescription.
- You have to treat for fleas for at least 3 months to kill all the life stages and get rid of an infestation.

ADULT DOGS:

- In general, we recommend Proheart 12 for adult dogs for 12 months of heartworm prevention in one injection. Text us to schedule an appointment if you adopted your dog from us or had your dog spayed/neutered by us.
- If your dog is current on Proheart, we recommend Nexgard (monthly) or Bravecto (every 12 weeks). We also now offer the BRAVECTO QUANTUM injection which is a 12 month injection for flea and tick prevention.
- For flea and heartworm combination prevention in a monthly chew, we recommend Nexgard Plus for dogs.
- You have to treat for fleas for at least 3 months to kill all the life stages and get rid of an infestation.

PUPPIES:

- For flea and heartworm prevention for puppies, we recommend Nexgard Plus for dogs.
- Switch your puppy to Proheart 12 when he or she is due for their annual vaccines (one year from their first rabies vaccine).

RABBITS:

- We recommend topical selamectin for cats (many brands such as Revolution, Revolt, Selarid, Senergy) for flea and ear mite prevention for rabbits. It will be labeled for cats but the weight ranges are the same for both cats and rabbits. Use the kitten size for rabbits less than 5 pounds.
